CTC-F (Fannings, CTC Black Tea)

F (Fannings, CTC Black Tea)
1. Definition and Process F is a fanning‑grade CTC black tea, produced via withering, CTC crushing‑tearing‑curling, fermentation, multi‑screening and drying. Its particles are finer than PF, close to fine tea dust, with ultra‑fast infusion and deep liquor colour. It is an economical CTC grade, mostly applied for low‑cost tea‑bags and colour blending.
2. Raw Material and Characteristics
- Raw Material: Relatively mature tea leaves, lower tenderness than PF, mostly screen by‑product.
- Appearance: Fine fanning particles, dark brown‑black, few golden tips, relatively more fine stems and fragments, higher dust content.
- Internal Quality: Very deep reddish‑brown liquor with average clarity.
3. Functional/Quality Characteristics
- Aroma: Mainly caramel notes, rather coarse aroma profile with limited briskness.
- Taste: Heavy and strong liquor with sharp astringency. Infuses within seconds, over‑steeping quickly brings bitterness. It creates dark colour with milk yet lacks flavour complexity.
- Nutrition: Contains theaflavins and thearubigins, inferior overall quality compared with PF series.
4. Application Scenarios ‑ Economical raw material for low‑cost tea‑bags for cost control. ‑ Blending material to rapidly boost liquor colour and strength. ‑ Not for loose brewing; fine powder easily leaks out. Only for tea‑sachet packing, for milk‑drink preparation only, not suitable for straight drinking.
5. Brewing Suggestions‑Water Temperature: 85‑95°C ‑ Time: 0.8‑1.2 minutes. Short infusion is required to avoid bitterness. ‑ Tea Set: Tea sachet only, not suitable for loose‑leaf brewing with normal filter.
In summary, F grade CTC features ultra‑fine particles and strong colouring power with cost advantage. It serves for low‑cost tea‑bags and blending for deeper liquor colour, not targeting premium aroma and taste.
